The Groundwork

Getting to Colombières-sur-orb

Our village is located in the stunning Haut Languedoc natural park, in the Herault, Southern France. It has good transport links. We are about a 50-minute drive from Beziers train station or Beziers airport (served by Ryanair); tickets are usually reasonable when booked in advance.

There are regular fast TGV trains to Montpellier and Beziers, and from there a train/bus to our nearby town Bedarieux several times a day. You are welcome to either hire a car or we can collect you from Beziers or Bedarieux for an additional cost.

Accommodation / What to bring

You’ll stay on-site in one of our self-contained gite spaces, with your own bedroom. These spaces are simple but cosy and comfortable, with Wifi, and access to a kitchen and bathroom.  Bed linen and towels are provided. Think to bring:

  • Clothes/layers for a variety of temperatures, and comfortable to move in.

  • Indoor shoes / slippers / socks if you like warm feet.

  • For June and September: sunscreen, a hat and mosquito repellent.

  • A decent journal/notebook.

  • Outdoor shoes and waterproofs – we won’t be hiking far but will be outside at times on rocky ground.

Food

When meals are provided they will be sourced with largely local, seasonal and organic food – the region excels at this – and vegetarian with vegan and gluten-free options. If you have special dietary requirements beyond that, please let us know and we will do our best to work with you.

Breakfast will be provided for you but you self-cater in your own accommodation; lunch and dinner will be communal and served either in our dining room or the garden.
